Description:

Unidox Solutab is a broad-spectrum antibiotic from the tetracycline class. It is used to treat various bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. The dispersible tablet formulation allows for flexible administration—tablets can be swallowed whole, chewed, or dissolved in water.

Indications:

• Respiratory tract infections (e.g., bronchitis, pneumonia)

• Urinary tract infections

• Acne vulgaris (long-term treatment)

• Sexually transmitted infections (e.g., chlamydia, syphilis)

• Gastrointestinal infections (e.g., caused by Helicobacter pylori, cholera)

• Tick-borne infections (e.g., Lyme disease, rickettsial infections)

• Malaria prophylaxis and treatment (specific cases)

Dosage & Administration:

• Adults and children ≥12 years (≥45 kg):

  • Standard dose: 200 mg on day 1 (as a single dose or 100 mg twice), then 100 mg/day.

  • For severe infections: 200 mg/day throughout the treatment.

• Tablets can be:

  • Swallowed whole with water

  • Chewed

  • Dissolved in a small amount of water (approximately 20 ml) to form a suspension

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to doxycycline or other tetracyclines

• Pregnancy and breastfeeding (unless absolutely necessary)

• Children under 8 years of age (due to risk of teeth discoloration and bone development issues)

Side Effects:

• Gastrointestinal upset (nausea, diarrhea)

• Photosensitivity (skin sensitivity to sunlight)

• Allergic reactions (rash, itching, very rarely anaphylaxis)

• Liver enzyme changes (in rare cases)

Storage Conditions:

• Store below 25°C (77°F) in a dry place

• Keep out of reach of children
